 Torah's number one!

Torah's number one!

COOMA'S own snowboarding star Torah Bright has hit new heights in the popularity stakes after being voted the best female snowboarder of all time by television network viewers.

Bright has been going from strength to strength following her performance at the 2006 Winter Olympics, and jumped even further after she received 44 per cent of the votes in a poll conducted by sport's channel EXPN in the USA earlier this year.

Her father, Peter Bright, said this recent accolade had come as no surprise, as her performance had been exceptionably well over the last 18 months.

"This is well deserved," Bright said.

"Ever since the 2006 Winter Olympics she's hardly been off the podium in every event, and won the Winter X Games last year.

"EXPN narrowed it down to five in the end, and Torah thought there were other girls who'd been in the sport longer and were more deserving, but she certainly has a strong following in the USA and Japan and has been very innovative in what she's doing," he said.
