BREDBO has a master mountain biker in the making after 12-year-old Thomas Crimmins took out the under 13's downhill series for 2007/2008.
Crimmins took part in the Canberra off Road Cyclist's event and placed highly in 10 races between April and March to take out the title.
Crimmins started racing in the second round placing fourth and improved as the series went on to win the last five rounds.
Each year races are held in venues around Canberra and across NSW, including one at Thredbo.
Crimmins' mother Kerry is not biased but said she thinks she is fostering the talents of a future champion of the sport.
"If he keeps going the way he has been, that's what people keep saying," she said.
Mrs Crimmins said her son would race every weekend if he had he chance, but for now he has to settle with the races mum or dad can take him to.
"We take him to all the ones that are close -there is one coming up on the June long weekend in Coffs Harbour- so we're all going to that," she said.
"We're going to make a family weekend of it."
Crimmins has stepped up this year to race in the under 15 age downhill series and try his hand at the NSW State series.
Mrs Crimmins said the move up has not been too much for the youngster who placed third in the first race of the NSW State series and second in the under 15's.
"It hasn't been too stressful for him," she said.
"Some of his times in the under 13's would have placed him even in the under 15's."
